Bill Merrigan, Esq.

Partner

Bill Merrigan grew up around this practice long before he became a partner in it. He worked alongside his father, Frank, through high school, college, and law school, joining as an attorney in 1987 and never really leaving. He is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts, and outside the firm, he's served the Holbrook community for ten years as Town Moderator.

Bill earned his undergraduate degree from Boston College in 1982, his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 1987, and later returned to school for his LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University School of Law in 1992, a credential that still shapes how he approaches estate planning and tax matters today. His practice covers estate planning and related tax considerations, individual income taxation, probate, trust, and estate administration, elder law, and residential real estate, essentially the full range the firm handles.

Outside the office, Bill is rarely without a good book close by, The Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy remains a longtime favorite. He lives with his wife Linda and is kept busy by his French Bulldog puppy, Hank, who's still learning the house rules.

Dave Merrigan, Esq.

David joined Merrigan & Merrigan in 1994, after an earlier career in printing sales, working alongside his father, Frank, and his brother, Bill. He earned his degree from Carnegie Mellon University in 1987, then his J.D., cum laude, from Suffolk University Law School in 1994.

David's practice covers the firm's full range: estate planning and the tax considerations that come with it, individual income taxation, probate, trust, and estate administration, elder law, and residential real estate. He also served five years on the Canton Planning Board, work that gave him a close-up view of how land use and development decisions play out in a town over time, background that carries over naturally into his residential real estate work today.

Outside the office, David has made his way to all fifty states over the years. Ask him where he'd rather be on a summer weekend, though, and the answer is close to home: a beach on Cape Cod. Come fall, he trades that beach chair for a spot on the gridiron, officiating high school football games most Friday nights. Between the travel, the Cape, and Friday nights under the lights, David brings the same steady, hands-on presence to his time off that clients see in his work with the firm.

Michael McDonald, Esq.

Associate

Michael earned his degree from Assumption College in 2019 and his J.D. from New England Law | Boston in 2022. He's admitted to practice in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Michael's time at Merrigan & Merrigan started before he was a lawyer. He interned with the firm during law school, then began his legal career at Delaney & Muncey, P.C. in Plymouth, focusing on estate planning, probate, and estate administration. He has since returned to Merrigan & Merrigan, where he advises individuals and families on estate planning and its tax considerations, individual income taxation, probate and trust administration, elder law, and residential real estate.

He also played college football at Assumption. Saturdays on the field have given way to client meetings and real estate closings, but the discipline and teamwork from those years still shape how he approaches his work.

Outside the office, Michael's competitive streak shows up on the golf course, whether he's chasing a good round or just enjoying an afternoon outside. He lives with his wife, Mackenzie, and their chocolate lab, Nala, who's always first to the door when he gets home.
